Haub's Station, platted in clay
Haubstadt began as Haub's Station, laid out in 1855 and named for early settler Henry Haub, then renamed once the Evansville and Terre Haute Railroad came through Gibson County after 1852. It was platted in 1855 but wasn't formally incorporated until 1913 -- nearly six decades as a rail-stop village before it became an incorporated town.

That slow path from rail platting to incorporation left Haubstadt with a building stock that spans generations of construction on Gibson County ground, from the original rail-era village core to newer homes built after 1913. A foundation evaluation here needs to account for that range rather than assuming one construction standard across the town.
